Raypak repair
Raypak heater parts, diagnosis, and repair
We fix Raypak heaters across Brevard County — digital and millivolt gas, and Crosswind heat pumps.
Tell us the full model number and the exact display message. The right fix depends on both.
Find your Raypak line first
Each Raypak family takes different parts. Read the data plate before anyone reads a parts catalog.
Digital ASME gas
206A, 266A, 336A and 406A models.
Millivolt or electronic ignition
Residential gas heaters come either way. The two fail differently and take different parts.
Crosswind heat pumps
50-I and 65-I models. Not gas heaters.
Crosswind V
Vertical-discharge heat pumps: 4550, 5550, 6550 and 8550 models.
Send the complete data-plate number, serial, fuel and ignition style — not only “Raypak.” Call (321) 536-9122 with the plate nearby.
Raypak codes and what to do
A code is a clue, not a parts order. These meanings come from the manual for Digital 206A–406A; wording varies by model.
Digital 206A–406A messages only.
No match — call us with the model and what the display shows.| Raypak display | Likely meaning | What to do |
|---|---|---|
Ignition Failure | Pilot flame was not established within the required time. | Record the model, fuel, and when the message appears. Do not open gas components. |
Ignition Lockout | The ignition sequence locked out after the pilot was not established, or the main flame was lost during its trial. | Record the model, fuel, and exact message. Do not keep resetting an unknown gas fault. |
WATER SW OPEN | The water pressure switch is open. | Check that the pump runs, baskets are clear, the filter is not restricted, and valves are open. Never bypass the switch. |
Sensor Failure, Sensor Open, or Sensor Short | A thermistor or temperature-sensor fault is present. | Note the displayed temperature and exact model. Do not order a sensor by appearance. |
Hi Limit 1 is open, or Hi Limit 2 is open | A high-limit switch is open. | Stop repeated resets. Flow, internal restriction, overheating, and the limit circuit need diagnosis. |
Rollout Sw Open | The rollout switch is open. | Stop using the heater. Do not reset and try again. |
Internal Fault, or EEPROM Fault | A board fault or controller-memory fault is present. | Capture the message, model, serial, and power-up sequence before choosing a board. |
No code? Start with the ignition style
- Millivolt
- A standing pilot under a small generator. Wind can blow it out, spider webs clog burner ports, and rodents chew wiring.
- Digital
- Lights a pilot only on a call for heat. Needs a 120V or 240V supply, then runs 24V controls and a diagnostic display.
- Crosswind
- An inverter heat pump. No heat can mean water flow, airflow, fan, sensors, contactors, capacitors, controls or the compressor circuit. Tell us if the fan runs and water is moving.

Repair the part or replace the heater?
On a Raypak the answer follows the part, not the age. What it costs and whether it still exists decide the rest.
Repair the part
When the failed component is isolated and the cabinet, exchanger and controls are otherwise sound.
Compare a replacement
When the exchanger leaks, corrosion is widespread, several major parts fail, or a needed part is no longer made.
Parts owners search for, and why the model matters
| Part or assembly | What it does | Why the exact model matters |
|---|---|---|
| Heat exchanger or tube bundle | Transfers heat from the gas side to the pool water. | A leak or restriction changes the repair decision. Size, fuel, and model determine the correct assembly. |
| Gas valve | Regulates gas flow to the burner. | An Ignition Failure message can involve the valve, igniter, flame sensing, gas supply, wiring, or board. The message does not name one part. |
| Control board | Sequences digital ignition and reads sensor and safety inputs. | Board revisions, connectors, and programming can differ between models. |
| Temperature sensor or thermistor | Reports water temperature to the controls. | Sensor Failure can involve the sensor, wiring, seating, or board. Match the model before ordering. |
| Igniter, flame sensor, or pilot assembly | Starts or proves flame on the applicable ignition system. | Digital and millivolt assemblies follow different paths. Do not open gas components to test them. |
| Water pressure switch and flow path | Confirms a water condition before firing. | WATER SW OPEN can reflect low flow, a switch, wiring, or an internal water-path problem. |
We explain the repair-or-replace choice before any work starts. If it points at a new unit, see pool heater installation.
"Nat/Pro has always been quick to respond for service requests and when my pool heater finally died they gave me a great price and service on a new one. Reliable, honest and fast. Can't ask for more than that!"

Send the full model number, serial number, fuel, the exact code or message, and what happens before the heater stops. Not sure if it is digital, millivolt or Crosswind? Say so.
Raypak questions
How do I tell if my Raypak is digital or millivolt?
Look for a digital display or a millivolt control, then send us the data-plate model to confirm.
Can an Ignition Failure message tell me which part to buy?
No. It means the ignition sequence failed. Gas supply, pilot, igniter, flame sensing, valve, wiring or board can be involved.
What does WATER SW OPEN mean if the pump is running?
The water pressure switch is open. Check baskets, filter restriction, valves and visible flow. If flow looks normal, the switch, wiring or internal water path needs diagnosis. Never bypass the switch.
Do you work on Raypak Crosswind heat pumps?
Yes. We service electric heat pumps across Brevard County. Tell us whether it is a Crosswind or Crosswind V, plus the model and symptom.
Do you handle commercial Raypak systems?
Yes. For a hotel, condo, HOA, golf or club pool, send the heater count, model, fuel and operating schedule through commercial pool heating.
