Jandy heater fault? Start here.
We fix Jandy JXi, LXi and Legacy heaters across Brevard County. Save the exact message, model and fuel before you reset anything.
Know which Jandy you have
Read the model off the rating plate. Each family lights, and fails, its own way.
JXi
Models 200, 260, 400
Direct ignition with a combustion blower. The display spells out the fault.
LXi
Models 250, 400
Premix forced-draft burner. The flame itself is part of the evidence.
Legacy
LRZE and LRZM
LRZE is electronic ignition. LRZM is millivolt with a standing pilot.
Got a Jandy VersaTemp heat pump instead? It's a different machine. Tell us whether it's in Heat or Chill, whether the fan runs, and every display message.
Match the symptom to the model
A JXi code, an LXi flame and an LRZM pilot are different tests. Find your row, then call us with what you see.
| You see | Likely meaning | What to do |
|---|---|---|
JXi: CHECK FLOW | The water-pressure switch is open: a stopped pump, low pump pressure, a switch fault, or a variable-speed setting that's too low. | Note the pump mode, filter state, valves and code. |
| JXi: blower starts, then the burner drops out | Stable flame wasn't proven. Three failed attempts set an ignition fault. | Record the display and the LED flash count. Stop resetting. |
| LXi: igniter lights, but the main burners do not | A gas valve not set to On, air in the gas line, or a failed gas valve. | Leave the gas controls alone and call us. |
| LXi: flashback, lazy yellow tip, lifted flame, or yellow streak | Premix combustion symptoms. | Stop running the heater and call with the exact symptom. |
LRZE: NO FLOW | A stopped pump, low pump pressure, or a pressure-switch fault. | Send us the model, code and pump state. |
LRZE: FAULT-FUSELINK/FIELD | A roll-out fusible-link fault or a vent-temperature-limit fault. | Leave the safety circuit intact and call us. |
| LRZM: pilot will not hold | A standing-pilot millivolt heater. Pilot, gas, flow and safety need a model-specific check. | Send us the model number and pilot symptom. |
| AquaLink/iAquaLink shows heat scheduled, but the Jandy unit does not fire | The remote command or communication may be the problem, not the heater. | Save the controller wording, local display and LED pattern. |
More on each Jandy family
JXi
The blower purges the combustion chamber, the hot-surface igniter heats, then the gas valve opens. After three failed attempts, the controller shows an ignition fault.
Slow heating can trace to pump runtime, heater size, plumbing, or a thermal-regulator valve. Pounding can mean low flow, a failed valve, bypass trouble, or a low pump setting.
After the burner stops, the fan can keep purging for 45 seconds. That sound alone isn't a new failure.
LXi
LXi premixes air and gas before the burner, and local fuel-gas properties can affect how it runs. Slow heating or condensing point toward combustion, gas supply, airflow, or water-flow checks.
Legacy LRZE and LRZM
LRZE can also show FAULT- HIGH LIMIT, FAULT- CHECK IGN CONTROL, or a water-sensor fault. LRZM is self-contained, with no external power.
Legacy heaters are natural draft, so vent blockage, downdraft, rollout and limit conditions are part of the check.

How we diagnose a Jandy
-
Confirm the family
JXi, LXi, LRZE and LRZM don't share ignition parts. The rating plate decides which manual applies.
-
Read the display before any reset
CHECK FLOW,FAULT-PUMPandNO FLOWsend us down different circuits. -
Split the controller from the heater
An AquaLink schedule can fail while the heater is healthy. We check RS-485 communication apart from the local fault. If the automation is the fault, we fix that instead.
-
Prove flow, then the burn
We verify the water-pressure switch, never bypass it. Then we test the JXi, LXi or Legacy burn sequence.
Repair or replace? We decide from the model, serial number, fuel, fault, heat-exchanger condition and safe venting, never age alone. An older LRZ may be repairable. If it's time to replace, see costs and installation.
"I called Nat/Pro gas for an issue I was having with my pool heater. They called me back immediately, the tech was there the next day, the estimate was extremely reasonable. The service was then completed as scheduled and correctly. I would highly recommend Nat/Pro Gas."

Jandy questions
What does FAULT-PUMP mean on a Jandy JXi?
The filter pump is off while Maintain Temp mode is programmed. That can be normal in that mode. If the pump should be running, save the screen and call us.
What do three flashes mean on a Jandy heater?
Lockout. On a JXi, a triple ignition-control LED flash means three failed ignition attempts and a soft lockout. On an LXi, it means lockout after three cycles. Don't keep cycling the heater.
Does a Jandy LRZM use the same codes as a JXi?
No. LRZM is a millivolt standing-pilot heater with no external power. Tell us what the pilot, burner and flow are doing instead.
